5 common mistakes when renting a car

So what should NOT be done when renting a car?

❌ Break the rules

Of course, you know the rules of the road and follow them conscientiously. But in addition to traffic rules, there are also rules for car use established by car rental services. And some of them may differ from your usual behavior in the car.

For example, you are used to smoking ICOS while driving - and you are asked not to do this, because the smell of smoke can be unpleasant for other drivers who will use the car.

Or you would like to end your trip near the shopping center or your office - but you need to do this only in the trip termination zone.

Take these limitations for granted. The rules are developed so that ALL users receive quality services and are in equal conditions.

❌ Do not read the service usage agreement

The terms of the car rental will be set out in the contract that you will sign with the company that provides the services. The sections devoted to the rights and obligations of the parties, financial issues (payment for the service, tariffs), drivers' responsibility in the event of a traffic accident require your special attention.

To tell the truth, you need to read absolutely everything carefully to avoid surprises.

❌ Disregard the conditions of the tariff plan

Before using the rental service, ask what tariffs are available to you, as well as what is included in the package. For example, the price of all Go2Go car sharing tariffs includes not only the use of the car, but also OSACV insurance, fuel, washing, seasonal tires, 24/7 support, taxes and fees.

The tariff should correspond to the purpose of your trip. Traveling with many stops and simply moving from point A to point B requires different tariff plans. There is no point in taking a car for a day, if you can solve your affairs on Saturday morning. Conversely, if the day promises to be busy and you plan to tour the entire city, choose a daily rate and calmly implement what you have planned for today.

❌ Do not inspect the car before the trip

Drivers are different — more or less responsible, experienced and careful. When reserving a car, do not forget to inspect it, and do not start the trip before you record all the damages and report them to the rental service.

Car rental services often have car fleets with a wide variety of models. Drivers may be tempted not to take the car that is best suited for the trip, but the one in which they want to go for a ride.

Have you dreamed of an SUV for a long time, and here is an opportunity to rent it? But will it be convenient for you to park on the narrow streets of the city center?

Is there an option to choose a car with a powerful engine? But will the fuel costs be unreasonably high?
